PHS Clipper Band Fall Tagging Fundraiser | Clipper Performing Arts
  • Thanksgiving weekend tagging (11/25 Friday & 11/26 Saturday 7am-7pm)
  • General Information
  • You should know that a regionally competitive marching band (like ours) is one of the most expensive groups in the school system to maintain. The costs associated with show design, instruction, equipment, uniforms & supplies are not fully funded through the school budgeting process. In order to continue offering such a great experience for our students, we must find ways to make up the shortfall. This fundraiser is dependent on maximum student participation and can bring in anywhere between $3500-$6000 to help support the marching band program.
  • Every year the members of the PHS Clipper Band & Colorguard are asked to sign-up in small groups for tagging shifts at local businesses and areas in the downtown. Shifts are 2 hours each and I ask each student to sign up for a minimum of 2 shifts. The shifts can be consecutive or at completely different times or days.
  • As it is the first big shopping weekend for the holiday season, students are encouraged to bring their instruments and perform some of the holiday carols that we will have started rehearsing in class. This adds to the holiday spirit downtown and the students usually have a great time.
  • Student Information
  • Student sign-ups will start on Monday 11/14 and the shift sign-up sheets will be located in the bandroom, on the counter, behind my podium. I would like to have all of the sign-ups completed by Friday 11/18. If you are not at PHS (we have a few students) and unavailable to sign-up, please email me your sign-up preferences. What day(s) Friday/Saturday and what time of day (morning/afternoon/early evening). I will put you into the schedule and let you know your times. Please remember to sign up for at least two shifts.
  • Parent/Guardian Information
  • In addition to the students signing up for shifts, there is a significant need for parent volunteers as well. I need a crew of 3 parents to be on-site for the the entire day. That crew of 3 can certainly be broken up into multiple shifts of 3 people. These people will be managing the bank and available for emergency transportation needs. There also needs to be crews of 5 drivers to transport the students to and from the various tagging locations. Drivers would need to report every 2 hours for about 20-30 minutes of “taxi service” Please sign-up through volunteer spot so that we can get our needs taken care of. You will be receiving an email invitation shortly.
  • I am asking for 2 parents who would be willing to help co-chair this event with me. I would still organize the event, but I need a couple of “Generals” to help me manage the details. This would involve contacting the various businesses in advance to obtain permission and also being on-site for the duration of the event on Friday & Saturday. The 2 volunteers could each do 1 day or split each day in half. It is just too much for one person to do both days and having two to share the time makes the job much easier. Please contact me via email if you are willing to help me with this. It’s happening regardless, but I could really use the help.
